My Healthy Oatbar Recipe
Ingredients
- 400g oats
- 300ml unsweetened almond milk
- 1 apple
- 2 bananas
- 2 handfuls of mixed fruit and nuts
- 4 tbsp Stevia
- 1 tsp cinnamon
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C.
- Line an oven dish with baking paper.
- In a bowl mix together all the dry ingredients – the oats, mixed fruit and nuts, Stevia, and cinnamon.
- Cut the apple into small pieces.
- Either slice or mash the bananas.
- Add the apple and bananas to the dry mix and then add the milk.
- Put the mixture in the oven dish and bake for approx. 25 mins.
- When the oatbar mix is cooked let it cool down and then cut it into squares.
Tips
- This recipe is very versatile. You can use a milk of your choice, different fresh, dried or tinned fruit and different nuts or seeds, different sugars (brown sugar or coconut sugar are healthy choices) and different spices, (ginger or cardamom, for example).
- You may also wish to add some healthy fats from coconut oil or nut butters, around 1-2 tbsp, and your favourite protein shake for extra protein.
- Have fun with it! It freezes well too which makes it great for batch cooking.
Special Thanks
This recipe was inspired by my dear friend and member of the Bea Tribe Tracey Watson, thank you Tracey for sharing this wonderful recipe with us.
I make the healthy oatbars myself most weeks. Sometimes I will get something that I fancy and make a pear and cardamom, for example, other times I will go with the flow and use whatever is left in my kitchen cupboards!
