The fact that we are mainly made of water would suggest that if we are going to change anything in our lifestyle then drinking more water and a better quality of water would have the biggest impact.

Yet amongst my clients, it is still the most underestimated and undervalued pillar of health and wellbeing.

Why Water Is Important

Your body is mainly made of water, over 60%, and your vital organs have much more!

Your blood is approximately 90% water, your lungs 83%, your muscles and kidneys 79%, your brain and heart 73%, your skin 64% and your bones are 31% water… Yes, you read that right, even your bones are made of a considerable amount of water!

People buy expensive food supplements and pay for expensive gym memberships but they don’t drink enough water and they don’t know if the water they drink is healthy. People are chronically dehydrated yet they mistake it for hunger, fatigue, and mood swings.

Dr. Batmanghelidj stated “You are not sick, you are thirsty. Don’t treat thirst with medication” in his book “Your body’s many cries for water”.

While you might now appreciate the importance of drinking more water, it’s also the quality of water that’s important, not just the quantity.

Drinking the Right Water

Shockingly, tap water is full of harmful chemicals, including chemicals that are carcinogenic (linked to cancer).

We thought that bottled water was the answer but now we know it contains chemicals that leach from the plastic and strips your body of minerals. It’s acidic and oxidizing to our bodies, not to mention all the environmental issues associated with disposing of the bottle.

Most things that we eat and drink including processed food, medication, coffee, alcohol, meat, dairy, and sugar, create an acidic environment in our bodies.
